Marijke Van haecke
Marijke, hailing from Brasschaat, comes from a theatre background as well as mastering in "Moral Sciences" at UGent. This all contributed to a passion for hospitality, and she learnt her trade well at Hungry Henrietta for a number of years, here in Antwerp. Next, she headed to Sergio Herman's Oud Sluis and Pure C where the eye for detail and constant strive for perfection further fine tuned her skills. This unique background allows Marijke to have a natural rapport with our guests, where she creates a relaxed, unstuffy atmosphere, striving to make you feel at ease as well as taken care of......
Michael was born in Lancashire, northwest England. His passion for the restaurant industry started at the age of 15 where he started washing dishes in a local Italian restaurant for pocket money, but was instantly infected with "the cooking bug". From here he trained in various Michelin starred restaurants around the UK, including a role as sous chef at Restaurant Martin Wishart in Edinburgh. Next he made the journey to Oud Sluis (where he met Marijke) and stayed for the last 3 years as sous chef. This experience allows Michael to put his own "Modern British" style on the best local ingredients, giving classical cookery a refreshing touch.
